Go Seth!

I cannot tell you how excited and glad I was at the announcement last night that Seth Aaron Henderson won Project Runway. Though I was very emotionally invested last season, since both Carol Hannah and Gordana were from Charleston, I think this season was the one I've cared about the most since I first tuned in for Season 4 with Christian Siriano.

Seth Aaron) I've been rooting for him pretty much the entire season. I only say pretty much because it takes a few weeks, because of the sheer number of contestants, to weed through them all and have opinions over them. I was won over, as assumedly a lot of viewers were, after that impeccable jacket for the child/adult challenge and I never looked back. I just love his aesthetic. I've never really been into fashion per say, because it used to bore me. I was never really interested in pretty things or popular things growing up, and that is what I perceived to be fashionable. I generally gravitate more towards the punk/rocker look. While I am starting to appreciate more in the way of other things, it used to piss me off to no end that makeover shows and what not would present an outfit for someone and call it punk, even though it really wasn't. Before I ramble for ages about all of this other stuff, the point is, I'm really excited to see work like Seth's. I love the colors, the fit, the detailing, and the "hardware." I heard on a radio interview he did that he would love to do a line for Target. I would be so down for that! Also, I just really love the fact that he seems to be a genuinely nice guy with a family who obviously loves him. He turned winning into a family thing, trying to teach his kids that if they work hard they can achieve anything, and talking about how it is going to change their lives and not just his life.

Mila Hermanovski) My feelings for Mila were varied throughout the season. Some things about her attitude I did not like, and I thought that she just kept doing the same concept over and over. As time went on I just realized that that was who she was and she wasn't changing. I still, however didn't really want her to be one of the ones at fashion week. I actually would have really wanted to see what Mia had in her had she not left the show. Overall I am not really complaining though. This dress I think was absolutely beautiful and I think they should have highlighted it more than some of her other stuff. I'm not huge on the oversized jackets and what not that hide a woman's figure. They were amazingly made though. As a person, I did learn to like her and realize she just had to relax for you to see the real her. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked her after her family visit. The fact that she had a dalmatian was just perfect.

Emilio Sosa) I really liked some of his pieces over the season. He obviously has a good eye and good craftmanship since he pulled out all of those winners on the show. I just think his attitude got the best of him. He was so arrogant I just could not stand it. He assumed he had it in the bag and so he decided to go safe for the runway....but its a show, you have to bring it! I will say though that his dress is absolutely beautiful, and if he had made more stuff like this, I still would have been angry he won, since his attitude is so poor, but I would have respected the decision. This thing is a show stopper.

random singing angel

So I drew that in like 5 minutes on my bamboo because I was bored and needed to practice really quick before How I Met Your Mother came on. I still have a lot to practice...I need to start doing it (or at least doodling in general) daily. Graduation is in like two weeks (Gah!) so I should have plenty of time after that.

The Parts of the Sum of the Whole

So, like I said earlier today, here I am with the episode analysis...I just re-watched the pilot episode to refresh myself on some things (and boy did it make me want to re-watch the whole series again...which I think I might just do. Anyway, here we go. 100th episode.

1:02- I really like this exchange between Booth and Brennan. Its got the right amount of her social awkwardness and his teaching. I don't know how to completely take her comment that she doesn't care about the whole love thing. She doesn't say that she doesn't believe it (at least so far) and she seems to be avoiding the subject. Perhaps she knows she loves him, and as we are to conclude later, she would rather still stay where they are than bring their emotions to light.

2:00-Still she does not deny it. She states that he is allowed to be wrong in his interpretation, but the only thing she states as factually wrong are some typos and the fact that was not their first case. It also like the interchange between Sweets and Booth. They both understand whats going on here, or at least what should be going on here, and are surprised that it is not why.

2:38- Just want to say, technically I really appreciate the dissolves and extreme close ups of the balls going into the pockets. It tells everything in a matter of seconds visually before we even get Booth's comments that he always won. I will say that I had always assumed the gambling problem was way before they met, but it does work here as an anchor to an available past Booth.

4:02-This scene with Cam and Booth is perfect. As a lot of people have noted, its great to imagine she connected the two. Before the episode aired, I didn't really think about how she would fit in the mix. Putting her here really works with the way her character comes off as almost all knowing. She's an expert at Booth and always seems to have a perfect reading of others. I suppose having her in this position as coroner, makes her a bridge between the scientific types and the social/emotive types, hence why she understands all.

4:18 Just had to say, Brennan's "which is me" is adorable.

5:50- First of all, what kind of guest lecture/class lecture hybrid is this? I doubt anywhere would be so elaborate and expensive, and still allow Booth to just walk in. This first exchange here seems a little contrived with the forcing of obvious counter ideals, but all in all it works. the "absolutely not" to believing in fate is classic Brennan. Sweets seems so frustrated too. Cute.

8:01- I could totally see arrogant early Booth testing Brennan like this. Of course this differs from what he says in the pilot about her identifying the remains with just the x-rays, but thats nit picky and nothing too big to overlook. Zack seems somewhat like he used to, kind of a mixture between how he is in the pilot, since he is so out of character there, and how he is the rest of the time. I absolutely love angry Hodgins and his hair.

9:35-Oh Angela. She would be a characteraturist or whatever they are called. The whole, they met at Angela's gallery makes a lot of sense. I have wondered how Brennan became such good friends with somewhat outside the realm of science. Also answers why she works there even though she doesn't really fit in professionally. I wish they had added why she knows so much about technology however.

11:03-I love how Bones just walks away from Cam. Very headstrong early Temperance. Also, I love how "dazzled" Booth is by her abilities.

12:36- "passed with a lot of color" :) also, towards the fact that she just throws off the whole, he tested her thing.

14:12- "feeling each other up"- again :)- Also, "Like a honeymoon"-Interesting analogy there Brennan.

15:33- I never really gathered that Zack and Jack hated each other in the beginning. Eh, it works. Explains why their experiments were so important...bonding...also explains why any of them would ever get to know an angry person like Hodgins.

16:01-props on Boreanaz and that tracking shot. I realize thats his dad and adore that he put him in...and I know they did something like 44 takes...the only thing is how crooked the stack is and how he doesn't actually take a copy when he's done. Overall though it worked. I understand how much goes into just a small tracking shot like that.

17:36- I like their playfulness and the way Brennan isn't as abrasive as she is towards him in the pilot...also I like that he puts the time aside to convince her of his skills. He's always trying to show her how partners have to give and take to earn respect and form a bond. Also, nice cut from the table to the floor. ( a lil after this time marker).

Okay had to take a two day break to get some stuff done. Now I'm taking a break from my paper on King Lear to work on this a little bit more. BTW, this has taken a lot longer than I thought.

18:45-Brennan and Hodgins beating Zack with a baseball bat. Priceless.

20:17 "Yes I see. So I could call you shoes [because they are so very shiny]" Lol. Oh Bones and her lack of social understanding.

21:11 "Thats too bad" "Glad you think so" such obvious flirting here. It does the shipper's heart good.

23:52- A lot went on here that I liked. Caroline is such a strong character. I am glad they figured out a way to bypass the continuity issue over the fact that it seemed previously that Caroline had met Bones for the first time on another case sometime in the run of the show. They answer this issue very true to her character too. She's very straight to the point, business oriented and of course she wouldn't take time to remember Brennan if she didn't think she would be important to her in the future. Also, the "sadistic" children's toy is great. Its so sute (in a morbid sort of way) and obviously leads the way for the Angelator. Oh yeah and the whole thing about Bones "[responding] to the breadth of [Booth's] shoulders" and his jawline...:)

25:15- "You are so hot" :)! I always love when Brennan assaults men. Women do not always have to be weak.

26:06-aw, firing Bones. :( Though it leads to them kissing, so its not all bad. I love how it always seems to be Caroline that gets them to kiss. She did the Christmas kiss after all too.

29:56-!!!!!!!! Kissing....Booth feeling he has to tell Brennan his flaws...Brennan's flustering over being fired...Sweets-"My book is crap!" alll !!!

30:42- I missed the reasoning behind why they didn't sleep together the first time around-Tequila...So, in conclusion with what is said next-She didn't want it to be a one time thing that only happened because of alcohol. They both could tell there was something more there and that it possibly would last...it couldn't happen then because they were not ready for it nor knew each other well enough.

31:28-Jack hitting on Angela-her being annoyed by it-cute!

32:18- "Do you feel like you ever saw something great that almost happened and then it didn't"
This echoes the whole missed their window thing Sweets talks about later. Its a little foreboding but I have hope. Plus they get back together and something great does happen in their partnership.

34:40-Should we assume by Booth's playfulness here that he assumes she is just as happy to work with him again as he is to work with her? She obviously looks annoyed so idk how to read this-hopefully not that he is more into the relationship...though that can't be true, because Booth is really the biggest thing in Brennan's life in the present.

36:17-Oh and the animosity begins. This is what I really love about the show btw, the eay it works like a Screwball comedy. Two people from opposite backgrounds come together, hate each other in the beginning and then fall in love. Its cliché now of course, but its cute and I like the social meaning behind it.

39:11-A lot here that works mainly along with what was said earlier....Nice father reference there to fully push Brennan over the edge. See, where as some viewers complain about episodes like this and say that they just lead us on, only to take it all away, I don't see it as that. I really appreciate how in this episode, as well as the infamous season 4 finale, Hart and everyone reward the long term fans with moments like this. What I mean is, that we are rewarded because we have followed the show and have come so close to the characters and we understand exactly why moments like this happen.

39:45 "We're not in love with each other" Its heartbreaking to see Booth's reaction here. great cutting.

40:32-Brennan looked horrified the way Sweets was begging Booth to profess his love to her. She is so horrified for their relationship to be redefined. Another nice one Hart, "nothing happens unless first a dream"

End- That last seen is just so wonderful. Great acting by both Emily and David. I personally find hope in this sad ending...It breaks my heart to see Booth so upset and to see Bones' freak out, but I know it'll all work out. She says the reason they can't be together is because she can't change, because she doesn't know how to....but she has changed over the years....and if she wants it bad enough....if she realizes that not being with Booth and only staying a friend will lead to an eventual distancing from him (via another woman or whatever) then she'll find the strength to take the gamble. A lot of people are pretty determined that the finale will be horrible and that they will end up just throwing the whole relationship out, but I can't. I think, from the evidence I have for the rest of the season, that something will finally happen for them to really push the relationship forward. If they break them up, the show has nothing to gain....it would be even worse than having them get together and lose the tension. I honestly don't know what sort of turn the show could make if they have to split them up before being together, but I'm sure they've figured it out. The writers are very smart people and they know what they are doing and do each thing for a specific reason.

Okay, so like I said before, I know this is delayed, but it was a practice run. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to alter the process at all or not. I can't decide if it would work better to do this again or to take these notes somewhere else and make one fluid review. We'll see what I decide...Time to go back to Shakespeare however.

Wednesday night, or some night before thursday, you should expect my comments on this season's Project Runway finalists. Depending on how much homework I have, you might get another one of these tomorrow for the Death of the Queen Bee episode from this past week of Bones to get caught up....Also some monday night commentary on How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory....Anyway, got to go!

Cheers!

These were tweeted from Hart Hanson. 100th episode inspired works. Wunderbar!

100th ep. inspired! Watercolor & black ink. on Twitpic
P.S. Bones is on Netflix instant play, which I didn't know until last night, and find very exciting as I have yet to buy the rest of the seasons.

Where Things Are

So, I haven't written in a while...this is because I have all of these ideas of where to take the blog...and every time I want to actually do something about it...I have a shiz-ton of homework to do. I graduate in about three weeks (ahh!) so I should have a lot more time after that. One thing though, that I might start doing, is taking the shows that I watch and comment on them as I watch them/rewatch them...These entrees will be rather long probably...and definitely full of Spoilers...but I think it might help me get focused and work on my analytical skills...especially now that I'm graduating and don't want to loose them....also I've got to actually do something with them. I don't know how much I'll do this with sitcoms...while a lot of them do have an overall story line they are following, you can't really be analytical...They tend to be a great deal more episodic...We'll see what happens though. Maybe they'll just have really short entrees.

Another thing I've been thinking about doing is a webcomic...I don't really know how this will pan out. I haven't practiced on my bamboo in a week or so...and I need to come up with a distinct style (that's easy to work with), characters, and a story line...I have ideas for books and things, but I really think I might keep those to myself for the simple fact that the internet is not the most trustworthy of mediums if you want to keep something for yourself...

Well, I have got to go...first episode might come tonight if I get time. I'm probably going back a week on Bones and rewatching The Parts of the Sum in the Whole (I think thats the title)...merely because I like it a lot and there is a lot to say about it. Okay, well I've got to go.

Cheers
